Homeownership is more than just four walls. It’s a home, a retirement plan, and often the biggest investment of your life. But owning a home raises many questions.

  • Where can I safely store my important documents?

  • What maintenance is due, and when?

  • How can I plan a renovation in a sensible and cost-effective way?

  • What is the value of my property?

This is exactly where myky comes in: The smart myky dossier brings together all the important information about your home and offers practical tools such as a renovation calculator, a maintenance planner, and a market value calculator. The myky app makes all of this accessible on the go: Homeowners always have their home with them, can record information right where it arises, and can find the right experts to carry out the work through the myky network.

An app to complement the web platform

The myky Dossier, the web platform developed by myky, has been around for some time. The myky Dossier helps homeowners manage and improve their homes. Its goal is to make the maintenance, modernization, and energy optimization of home ownership simple, digital, and efficient.

In the fall of 2025, myky approached us with the request to expand the myky offering with an app for iOS and Android. The goal was to make the web platform’s features accessible on smartphones and to enhance them with specific native features.

Since the web platform developed by myky already existed, a hybrid architecture was chosen: The existing web application forms the basis of the app, while selected features were implemented natively - such as the login, camera integration, and push notifications. An interface between the web and native components ensures that both layers work together seamlessly and that the native features are integrated into existing workflows.

The result was a mobile extension of the myky dossier that makes effective use of existing technology while also taking advantage of the capabilities of smartphones.

How We Proceeded

At the outset, the focus was on fundamental technical and conceptual questions: What is the best way to integrate features such as login, file uploads, and push notifications into the app? What are the requirements for offline functionality?

After the initial architectural decisions were made, we worked with myky to define the scope of functionality and the key requirements. This also included UX considerations related to the mobile use of myky - from navigation and forms to pop-up behavior.

The iterative implementation took place according to myky’s existing sprint cycle, accompanied by weekly meetings. During a subsequent testing phase that included a silent release in April 2026, the app was validated under real-world conditions, and initial feedback was gathered prior to the “official” launch.

What are the benefits of the myky app?

The myky app enhances the existing myky web platform with features that offer added value specifically on smartphones:

  • Documents can be scanned using the app and saved directly to the myky dossier. Photos can be used, for example, to document damage, renovations, or changes to your home

  • Push notifications alert you to market trends or remind you of upcoming maintenance

  • Information is consolidated and available right where you need it: Show the floor plan directly to contractors or have building information and renovation calculator results on hand during a bank consultation

  • Of course, all information is automatically synchronized between the app and the web, and persistent login ensures that users remain securely logged in

A digital companion that makes an impact

With the myky Dossier and the companion app, myky offers a comprehensive solution for the wide range of tasks related to home ownership. Initial feedback since the app’s release in early summer 2026 also shows that the service meets the needs of homeowners.

  • Within just a few months, the app had already recorded four-digit download numbers - without any paid advertising campaigns.

  • Reviews on the App Store and Google Play Store are positive. Users particularly appreciate the app’s specific features and ease of use.

  • The response to push notifications, repeat interactions, and active property management show that the app isn’t just tried out once, but also supports homeowners in managing their homes over the long term.
